Cuomo: Drug addicts in rehab are vaccinated in entrance of the aged

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that drug addicts in rehab facilities will be given COVID vaccines before senior citizens live outside of nursing homes.

The statement came Monday during a press conference in Albany, New York.

It's an odd decision, considering that the governor is currently embroiled in a scandal accusing him of taking action that has resulted in thousands of unnecessary senior deaths.

Cuomo's logic is based on delivering the vaccine to people in “congregated” locations, such as facilities operated by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS).

“These are assembly facilities. Congregational institutions are problematic. Lots of people are concentrated here, ”he said.

"Nursing homes are obviously the most problematic because they congregate and older, vulnerable people," Cuomo continued. "OASAS institutions, as we call them O-institutions, gather – not necessarily older – but institutions gather."

New York last week delivered vaccine to nursing home residents and frontline healthcare professionals.

Cuomo criticizes the prioritization of drug addicts over older people

Governor Andrew Cuomo was quickly gutted over his plan to vaccinate drug addicts in front of the elderly.

MP Elise Stefanik called the New York Democrat an "absolute disgrace" and "America's worst governor".

"The series of the worst governors in America continues," tweeted the Republican congresswoman. “This time around, vaccines for drug addicts have priority over tens of thousands of seniors who have lived in their home country since the pandemic began. An absolute shame. "

Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean, whose parents were both victims of COVID-19 and involved in nursing homes in New York, also made a comment.

Former New York Post columnist Fred Dicker made a claim by a "longtime radio listener" that they were appalled that an Albany County nursing home had not received their vaccinations when Cuomo announced the prioritization of the rehab center.

"One of the (largest) nursing homes in Albany County filled with senior citizens at risk has still not received the vaccine, as has assisted living, and Cuomo is giving it to drug addicts?" claimed the listener.

Dean responded by pointing out that it's not just drug addicts, but "Congressmen and their staff are cutting the line."

That is exactly right. Congress staff cut the line in front of our weakest. Shame. On. She. @nypost pic.twitter.com/uugtLvhIjC

Priorities are skewed

New York City Councilor Chaim Deutsch, a Democrat, also criticized putting drug addicts in front of the elderly or those with underlying diseases.

"NYS continues to show the most bizarre priorities," wrote Deutsch.

"There are millions of seniors and immunocompromised residents of New York State," he continued. "As the people with the highest death rates from COVID, why aren't they at the top of the list?"

Last week, Dean wiped out Governor Cuomo after claiming Santa would do him good for Christmas because he "worked hard this year."

"Did you work hard to kill seniors, jobs, and New York State in general?" she fired back.

You worked hard killing seniors, jobs, and New York state in general?

Cuomo is known to issue an order forcing nursing homes to admit patients who had tested positive for coronavirus.

The order banned facilities requiring incoming patients to "be tested for COVID-19 before admission or readmission," and may have contributed to well over 6,600 deaths in New York.

The CDC has unfortunately made it optional for nursing homes to report COVID deaths in March, April, and early May, when the New York pandemic was worst.

"Just a reminder that (Cuomo) I've been ordering over 6,000 Covid patients to nursing homes for 46 days, not using the federal government-provided Javits Center or the Comfort Ship, and I'm still lying about the total number of seniors who have died from it, "Dean tweeted.

Cuomo, the leader of a state that has by far the most COVID deaths, with seniors suffering a disproportionate percentage, is currently selling a book on how he beat the pandemic.

The percentage of New Yorkers who tested positive for COVID-19 rose from 5.8 percent to 8.3 percent over the three-day Christmas weekend.
