Donald Trump has always been obsessed with his place in history. It's now cemented: no other inmate in the Oval Office has received the award of twice charged with high crimes and misdemeanors. The vote was 232-197. Ten Republicans, together with the Democrats, made this historic action non-partisan.
Some of the articles directed against him read:
On January 6, 2021, the United States Vice President, House of Representatives, and Senate met in the United States Capitol for a joint congressional session in accordance with the 12th Amendment to the United States Constitution to vote the votes of the electoral college. […] Shortly before the joint session began, President Trump spoke to a crowd on the Ellipse in Washington, DC. There he repeated false claims that "we won this election and we won it by a landslide". He also deliberately made statements encouraging – and predictably led to – lawless action in the Capitol in the context of, for example, "If you don't fight like hell, you will have no more land. […]
In all of this, President Trump put the security of the United States and its government institutions at serious risk. It threatened the integrity of the democratic system, disrupted the peaceful change of power and endangered an equal branch of government. In so doing, he betrayed his confidence as President in the apparent violation of the people of the United States.
It is for this reason, through such behavior, that Donald John Trump has shown that he will remain a threat to national security, democracy and the Constitution if he is allowed to remain in office and has acted in ways that are self-governing and the Rule of grossly incompatible is law. Donald John Trump therefore guarantees impeachment and trial, impeachment and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, confidence, or profit in the United States.
