When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, Donald Trump actually took a few smart steps. He created a task force and commissioned the renowned immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci to be part of this task force.
However, the president has ignored much of the advice Fauci gave him. He also has the immunologist and Dr. Deborah Birx downgraded and upgraded Scott Atlas, who has no experience fighting a pandemic.
And according to Dr. Fauci, the President no longer bothered to attend the Task Force meetings. The doctor says Trump hasn't attended one for "several months".
Fauci made the comments when speaking with MSNBC's Chuck Todd. He said to the host: "That was a few months ago, Chuck. A few months ago (since Trump attended a meeting). "
The doctor continued: "I definitely don't have as much ear as Scott Atlas right now. "
Fauci said Vice President Mike Pence, who has been appointed head of the task force, will attend the meetings.
"We definitely interact with the vice president at the task force meetings, and the vice president makes the president aware of our feelings and what we are talking about, ”he said. "But direct involvement of the president in the discussions … I haven't done that in a while."
