I believe this is Zeke Miller, AP White House correspondent, but he's wearing a mask so I'm not quite sure. As far as I know, this is what Carrot Top looks like when not on stage.
REPORTER: "Why is the President going to Delaware this weekend?"
PRESS SECRETARY JEN PSAKI: "He is from Delaware, has a home there and will be spending the weekend there with his wife and family."
REPORTER: “But as you know, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the guidance in the last meeting a few hours ago … people should avoid traveling. Is there an exception to this policy? "
PSAKI: "Well, the key, Zeke, is to make sure people don't take steps to make others vulnerable in order to get the pandemic under control. As you know, every President of the United States, whether Democrat or Republican, obviously takes Air Force One, a private plane, with him when he travels. Delaware is his home and he looks forward to spending the weekend there and some quality time with his family. "
In all honesty, you couldn't pay me to fly ads right now. At least not on the plane. I'd rather cling to the landing gear while balancing my sad bag of almost usable peanuts and the complimentary half can of Coke on my scabbed knee than sitting on a plane these days. But would I ride Air Force One? Naturally! It's a large jet with lots of well-spaced seats, manned and manned by well-trained, responsible individuals. At least that's how it is now. Two months ago, the CDC could have classified it as a major disease vector, but it no longer flies to Trump superspreader rallies. It flies to Delaware.
I'm sure that at some point Joe Biden will do something that seems at least slightly scandalous. I doubt he'll greet someone with a coffee mug in hand, but he'll have at least 1,444 days to break out the tan suit and then it's all over. Maybe the press can wait for something like this to happen.
But until then, Zeke Miller, if that's his real name, should maybe focus on other things. I don't know how to encourage mask wearing, social distancing, and vaccinations.
Because that's what will get us out of this pandemic – not Joe Biden's use of the safest aircraft on the planet.
